The Scrambling Independence course offers a blend of theoretical instruction & hands-on practical application, equipping you with the knowledge, techniques, & mindset necessary for safe, competent & confident independent mountain travel .

Technical Skills Development

Learn essential scrambling techniques, including route finding, efficient movement over rocky terrain, belaying & basic rope work appropriate to grade 1 to 3 scrambles.

Practice the ability to dynamically assess conditions, consequences & terrain to help make informed decisions whilst scrambling.

Equipment FamiliariSation

Gain hands-on experience learning how to use essential scrambling equipment, including helmets, harnesses, ropes, & protective gear.

WhAT DO I NEED?

We’re not suggesting you to go out & spend all the money on all the latest technical kit, this is just a sensible list that in terms of keeping safe & comfortable, works. In the same vein, the weather on the day & the time of year will be big factors to help decide what you will & won’t pack. Ascent guides are more than happy to give advice and/or answer any questions you have regarding kit.
