GUIDING ON SKYE
Situated on the east coast of the beautiful Isle of Skye sits the Black Cuillin mountains, home to the infamous Cuillin Ridge, the closest thing the UK has to anything Alpine! The ridge is 12km long with 4000m ascent & decent. It hosts some of the best scrambling, climbing & mountaineering in the UK with incredible exposure & breath-taking views. Ascent Guides offer three amazing courses on the ridge, the Cuillin Traverse, the Munro Bagger & Private Cuillin guiding. For more information click on the links below or contact us.

THE CUILLIN TRAVERSE
This course is like no other, taking on the mighty Cuillin Ridge in one great push. Starting off in the relative calm of Glen Brittle you soon ascend high up on to the ridge & tackle all it has to offer, including the “TD gap”, “Inn Pinn” & “Naismith route”. With the ridge being 12km long & the technical difficulty it poses, a planned overnight bivi high up on the ridge is necessary & only adds to the unique adventure this course offers. The traverse finished by descending back down to the Sligachan Hotel for a well deserved drink. Due to the technical & exposed nature of the Cuillin, the use of a rope will be required to safeguard the team for a large sections of the traverse. The traverse approximately takes 16-20 hours to complete in good weather conditions.
WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?
This course is ideally aimed at folk who have a solid background in mountain walking, have scrambling/climbing experience, a decent head for heights & a good level of fitness. As stated above, the use of a rope is required so a base knowledge of climbing techniques are highly recommended. The ratio for this course is either 1:1 or 1:2, in the case the 1:2 both members MUST know each other & have completed some sort of mountaineering challenge together.
PRICES (Price per Person incl. 2 days)
1:1 RATIO £875
1:2 RATIO £475
THE MUNROer
The Black Cuillins are home to 11 of Scotland’s most technical & iconic Munros, including the aptly named Inaccessible pinnacle aka Inn Pinn & Skye’s highest summit Sgùrr Alasdair. This course aims to help you “bag” them all! Our guides know these mountains inside & out and will make sure your course is done with safety as paramount. Due to the technical & exposed nature of the Cuillin, the use of a rope will be required to safeguard the team for a large number of the Munros.
