Our guided winter walks offer a great opportunity to explore the stunning snow-covered, landscapes the UK has to offer. Join us & immerse yourself in a unforgettable adventure through some of the most spectacular winter scenery. Ascent guides predominately offers courses in the highlands of Scotland, but if you have ambitions for other mountainous areas or specific walks/summits elsewhere & the weather permits, we will try our very best to facilitate this.

Guides provide valuable navigation skills, ensuring safe passage through varying terrains & changing weather conditions.
HISTORY & CULTURE
Depending on the area, guides might share stories about the region’s history, including indigenous cultures, exploration or notable events that took place in the area.
SUMMIT ASCENTS
For more challenging walks, reaching a summit can be a goal. Guides will lead participants up to the summit, ensuring safety & providing encouragement along the way.

WhAT DO I NEED?
We’re not suggesting you to go out & spend all the money on all the latest technical kit, this is just a sensible list that in terms of keeping safe & comfortable, works. In the same vein, the weather on the day & the time of year will be big factors to help decide what you will & won’t pack. Ascent guides are more than happy to give advice and/or answer any questions you have regarding kit.

The unique Cairngorm Plateau, a vast expanse of winter wilderness & is home Ben Macdui, the second highest peak in the UK. The Cairngorm national park is one of Scotland’s largest.
Mamores
SCOTLAND
The Mamores ridge is one of the finest mountain ranges, with 10 Munros linked by ridges & crests. The Ring of Steall is a classic route combining the traverse of four Munros with scrambling along narrow aretes.
