Are your guides qualified & experienced?

Yes, all of our guides are highly trained, qualified professionals with extensive experience in
mountaineering & members of the Mountain Training Association and/or Association of Mountaineering Instructors.

What equipment do I need to bring?

We can provide essential technical equipment for the course, but you’ll need to bring personal items such as appropriate clothing, footwear & food. If you DO own technical equipment & want to use it, please bring it along with you. We’ll provide you with a detailed kit list for your specific course. 

How do I book a course?

You can book a course directly through the booking forms on each course page on our website or by contacting us. Once you’ve chosen your adventure, we’ll guide you through the booking process & provide all the necessary information.

What is your cancellation policy?

Our cancellation policy varies depending on the time of cancellation. It’s best to look at the cancellation policy within the terms and conditions as certain fees may apply.

Do you offer customised courses?

Yes, we can create customised courses tailored to your preferences, interests & skill level. If you want more information please contact us.

What level of experience is required to book?

We offer a wide range of different course aimed at different experience levels. Some of our courses are tailored for people without any experience. If you want advice or more information please get in touch.

Can I bring my dog to a course?

Yes, some of our courses are dog-friendly, please look out for the paw symbol on each course page. It’s the owners responsibility to judge if the dog is trained enough to behave during the day & to make sure you can get the most out of the course. Should you prefer to not bring your dog, check out our dog sitting service & let your dog have it’s own adventure!

DO I NEED INSURANCE?

We recommend getting some sort of insurance to cover any reason you may not be able to attend a course. Check out our cancellation policy.

How many people are on one course? What are the ratios?

The ratios differ depending of the course. All ratios for all course are stated on the specific course information page.

Can I book my kids on a course?

All children under the age of 18 MUST be accompanied by their parent or guardian. We offer adventures for the whole family, find out more under family adventures.

What happens if the weather conditions aren’t good?

Ascent Guides closely monitors weather conditions & may adjust the itinerary or activities accordingly to ensure safety & enjoyment. They may have contingency plans in place for adverse weather situations & will communicate any changes to you as needed.

Do I need to have any specific physical fitness level?

We offer a wide range of courses with some needing a higher level of fitness than others. However, we aim to be as inclusive as possible & try our best to customise a course to you. If you need advice or more information please get in touch.

Do YOU provide transport to & from expedition locations?

Usually we will meet you at a carpark near the location close to where the course will be held, to aid this, a lift share can be arranged with yourself & your guide & obviously public transport is always a possibility.  

Can I rent equipment from Ascent Guides if I don’t have my own?

Ascent Guides may offer equipment rental services for participants who don’t have their own gear or prefer not to travel with it. You can inquire about the availability of rental equipment & associated costs.

Do I have to complete MULTI-DAY Course on consecutive days?

No, a multi-day course doesn’t have to be completed on consecutive days. (Except Cuillin Ridge Traverse) They can be spread over multiple weeks to help work with other commitments or schedules you may have.
